Minor Football West Final 2014
Golden Kilfeakle 3-11 Clonoulty Rossmore 1-07
Golden Kilfeakle accounted for Clonoulty Rossmore in this year’s Minor B football west final which was played in Dundrum on Wednesday night last. This was a free flowing game, with little to separate the sides for the opening forty minutes.
Clonoulty opened this game with an Enda Heffernan point after two minutes. Keith Landy equalized for Golden after seven before Mathew O’Keeffe put them in front with a long range point .Clonoulty then went into a four point lead by the twenty second minute with points coming from Enda Heffernan, Padraig Carew and Dillon Quirke and a brilliant goal from Carew. Golden came more into this game and finished the half the stronger with points from Mathew O’Keeffe and Seanie O’Halloran and a well taken goal from David Wade to lead at the break by the narrowest of margins.
Clonoulty started the second half with points from Mickey Ryan (W) and Dillon Quirke. Keith Landy equalized in the sixth minute before Enda Heffernan put Clonoulty back in front on ten minutes. This was to be Clonoulty’s last score as Golden moved up a gear and had two more goals in quick succession from Niall Fogarty and Andy Byrnes to kill of this game as a contest.
